OUR PETS ARE BEING POISONED!

Dog receiving treatment at the animal hospital

Dear Riverbend Pet Owners,

We would like to bring an urgent matter to your attention regarding the safety of your beloved pets.

Recently, we’ve witnessed the presence of a white substance on the ground in front of several Riverbend buildings. We take the safety of our neighbors and pets very seriously so we picked up some of the substance for close view and smell and realized it was camphor or mothball flakes. After speaking to our Superintendent we learned Shannette Gray, the assistant treasurer of the Board of Directors and the Board President’s niece, instructed them to sprinkle the flakes on the ground to mask the smell of urine.

This was deeply disturbing to hear because The NYC Department of Mental Health and Hygiene says Camphor products are toxic and especially dangerous to young children. Mouthing or eating camphor can cause seizures, stomachaches, nausea, vomiting, irritability and agitation.

WHAT MAKES MOTHBALL FLAKES POISONOUS FOR DOGS?

Camphor ingestion results in central nervous system poisoning where a dog can become agitated and develop seizures. The signs will occur quickly after ingestion and can be life-threatening. There is no antidote to camphor poisoning, however good supportive care by a veterinarian and provision of anticonvulsant medication as required can result in a good outcome.

We’ve emailed our concerns to the Board and Princess Walker replied stating they would cease using the poison but we are still worried because no one in leadership placed a notice of caution under our doors or in the common areas warning us about their usage of camphor and since we confronted them, no one in leadership has bothered to apologize and ensure the entrances of our buildings remain free of poison.

As a precaution, we’ve taken matters in our own hands and poured boiling hot water on the areas that Shannette Gray’s poisonous flakes. However, we only know the locations we eye witnessed. It is possible the flakes were placed in other areas that we didn’t get to clean.

So we’ve created this website to caution you and keep you informed and your pets safe since leadership has shown they do not care if our dogs die.

We’ve already had one shareholder take her sick pup to the vet for looking lethargic and she ended up with a $400 bill. It is alarming to know that her dog was possibly poisoned by our own Board of Directors.

We have contacted PETA and an attorney for next steps because animal cruelty will never be tolerated at Riverbend. This is their home too.

STEPS TO ENSURE YOUR PET’S SAFETY:

Keep Pets on Leashes: Until we have completely resolved this issue, we strongly advise that you keep your pets on a leash at all times when outside. This will help prevent them from coming into direct contact with any harmful substances on the ground.

Avoid Common Areas: Whenever possible, avoid walking your pets in the common areas until we have resolved the situation. Instead, consider using designated pet areas at Savoy or Lenox Terrace where you can ensure their safety.

Wash Paws and Hands: After returning from a walk or being outside, make sure to thoroughly wash your pet’s paws and your hands. This will minimize the risk of accidental ingestion or absorption of any harmful substances placed by Shannette Gray.

Alert Management: If you notice anything unusual or suspicious in the common areas, please promptly notify Prestige and send an email to us at info@Riverbendpets.com. With our failed leadership we must look out for each other since we are the only ones concerned about keeping our pups alive and happy.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Neighborly,
